The amethyst is the most famous and most beautiful of all crystals. The amethyst originated millions of years ago and is comprised of liquid silicon, the basic building block of all crystals. Traces of titanium, manganese and iron give the stone its unique purple color. The most famous sites where Amethyst can by found are Brazil, Mexico and Western Australia. Its name comes from the Greek "amethystos" (which means “not-intoxicated”). It is believed that Aaethyst strengthens our intuition, stimulates the imagination and provides its wearer with the ability to make sound and righteous judgments. It also is thought to contribute to physical well-being by providing a calming effect on the heart and nerves, as well as reducing stress-related tension and improving one's ability to concentrate.
